Putting down the foundations

On our site the foundation is sand which had already been compacted by the developer many years ago. There should have been a better re-check of this during the investigative phase but a routine Council building site inspection established the need for a recheck on the seaward side and some extra piles were rapidly put in place.

Waiting for a clear break in the weather was a key requirement, but on the day of the foundation pour it was a great Spring morning, although the concrete trucks had to fight for space between whitebaiters and other builders on the street!

Within 6 hours it was all done and a couple of floor finishers were left to smoothe off the edges. The wooden supports were removed the next day and all appeared well.
